In 2013 Christy's oldest son was struggling with sitting still at school, focusing on tasks, staying organized, getting ready in the morning, and emotional regulation. With her background in psychology and special education, she created a curriculum to help him improve his executive functioning skills. The practice and planning at home allowed him to have a better experience at school and home. Soon after, she started working with the children of friends and simultaneously met Megan. Together they decided to move forward with a joint business. After a year of planning, research and training, Propel Smart was born.
