This service helps students gain confidence and understanding in improving their executive functioning skills.
Having personal experience, we understand what it's like to struggle. This is a place to learn, grow, fail, and succeed without judgement.
During our sessions students will learn about themselves and gain strategies they can use when they feel stuck.
The first step in every session is celebrating. As students learn to appreciate what they do well and play to their strengths they will grow in confidence.
Each week we will ask about the previous goals and action steps. You'll have the opportunity to celebrate success and compassionately explore areas that were tough, then dig into ways to produce change.
Students take time during our sessions to understand their own actions, reactions, and thought processes. Becoming more self-aware allows students to figure out a way forward so they can make the desired changes in their lives.
Students choose how to move forward. Implementing 1-2 actions steps will allow them to slowly make some changes.
We start each meeting with a few minutes to discuss what went well in the past week. Then we move into discussing upcoming plans and assignments. Checking to see if there is anything due (or overdue) and deciding when there is time during the week to complete them. This gives students practice looking ahead and chunking up tasks.
Next, students are asked to choose a topic for our session.* We dive into a discussion of how the topic is effecting their lives and students discover strategies and plans to make their lives easier.
*Group Coaching is the exception - each class has a topic already assigned for each meeting.
In the last 5 minutes we will wrap up and discuss what the student discovered during the session and make a plan for the coming week. Each student leaves their session with action steps to implement in the coming week.
